Magic DVD Copier is a simple, yet effective DVD copy software we decided to enlist into our top ten list because of its speed and reliability. Although it might be missing some features other products in our review have, it’s proven to be a good value for money product.

Magic DVD Copier gives you two options for copying your favorite DVDs. To make a copy of your DVD you can choose between a compressed and an uncompressed version. Although it might seem like it’s just a matter of size, the difference between these two options are major. Most commercial DVDs are actually double layered DVD-9 discs with circa 9GB of space. The problem arises when you try to copy this original content onto a regular DVD-5 type disc that can only hold about 5GB of storage. To fit the remaining difference in space, your copying software compresses the video files on the original disc to fit the storage allowance of the inserted blank one. Unfortunately, more often than not, these compressions have a very big impact on the quality of the video file you’re copying. The picture can get pixelated and distorted and if you own a higher resolution HDTV, it might even be unwatchable. If you’re looking for a program with good compressed video quality, Magic DVD Copier most likely won’t fill your expectations.

One of the best ways to copy your favorite movies without any loss of image quality is by making an exact copy of it on a blank DVD-9 disc. Magic DVD Copier does this very effectively and in under 40 minutes which is the industry average time for this process. Considering it took the program just ten minutes less to make a compressed copy, waiting a few minutes more for an exact duplicate isn’t such a bad thing.

Since almost all commercial DVD carry some kind of encryption for protecting them against piracy, Magic DVD Copier makes sure to stay in pace with the newest encryptions companies use. The software can bypass all the most common protections like CSS, Region, RCE, Sony ARccOS and PuppetLock. By having a decryption software integrate in the app, you’re making sure you can always copy any movie you bought.

Like some other applications that didn’t make it into the top five DVD copy software, Magic DVD Copier also doesn’t allow you to save a DVD’s ISO file onto your computer. Although this isn’t a crucial feature, it’s very useful if you wish to have a virtual backup of all your favorite DVDs. The ISO files also act as blueprints of your original DVDs, so in case something happens to the physical copy, you can always burn the image file onto a blanc disc and replace it.
