There are various scenarios in which you might need to boost the audio of your phone: you’re out camping and you forgot your Bluetooth speaker, you want to play something on your phone for someone, but there’s too much noise in the room, etc.
As good and popular as iPhones are, there are still people out there who complain about the insufficient volume of the speakers on Apple phones.
Although every iPhone model is a bit louder and improved in quality than its predecessor, there are still some tricks you can try to boost the volume on your iPhone.
- This first one is no trick, but a simple and logical thing you can do: turn the phone upside down. The reason why you should do that is because the speakers on the iPhone are placed on the bottom, so when your phone is placed on the table, desk, etc., the sound will be more muffled. You’ll get more volume if you put the phone upside down so that the sound coming from the speakers will go straight up and won’t be blocked by anything
- Play with your EQ settings and choose whatever sounds louder/better to you. There are several EQ settings available on your iPhone. The first thing you should do is turn them on (Settings- Music – EQ), because by default, they are off. Then, browse through the available settings (Jazz, Late Night, Latin, Loudness, etc.). One setting that boosts the overall volume is the Late Night one and another one is the Loudness setting, although the latter might not sound as pleasant to your ears. The best thing is to play around with all of the settings and hear which one does the job best for you
- Place your phone in a bowl. This trick works with other phones, too, not just iPhones. Just put the phone in a clean, empty bowl, with the speakers downward this time. Sound waves will bounce off the bowl and will fill the room differently, so you’ll hear everything louder. You can try to use vessels made of different materials (glass, ceramic, plastic, etc.) and observe which one has a better overall effect
- There are other settings you can use to manipulate the volume on your iPhone. One of them is Volume Limit (Settings-Music-Volume Limit). Volume Limit is useful for when you are using earbuds or headphones, to protect your hearing from too many decibels and limit the volume. But if you are just using the speakers on your iPhone, disable Volume Limit to get the maximum out of the phone’s speakers. Another setting is Sound Check, which is also found under Settings – Music. What this does is increase or reduce the volume of your songs individually, depending on the file.
