Nowadays, there are a lot of applications online marketed towards improving the PC’s condition. These vary in terms of brand names and functionalities. While some of them are definitely genuine applications, there are still those which scam their customers or infect their PCs with viruses once installed. This is why it is important for users to be constantly aware of the applications which they may download online especially if it will be given access to their files and important Windows settings.

What is Driver Genius?

Driver Genius is a driver updating application made by Avanquest Software. It is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10. The application is marketed as an easy way of updating the drivers of the PC without all the technical mumbo jumbo that most users have no knowledge of. With this application, users can update their drivers with only a couple of clicks.

Is Driver Genius a virus?

Viruses are files which replicate itself in the hard drive and then attach itself to your other files. The damages it can do to the computer vary as some can simply cause the computer to be slower while some can corrupt the healthy files and even steal your personal data. These files often come from unsafe websites but may also enter the PC under the guise of being a computer performance-improving application.

Driver Genius is not a virus. It is a safe application which can update the drivers and even make the performance of the PC better. It does not corrupt any of the files of the user. It also does not steal any of the private’s information nor share it to others without consent. This is stated in their privacy policy which can be read before installing the application.

How do you uninstall Driver Genius?

Because it is not a virus, Driver Genius can be uninstalled just like any other application. Users simply need to click the “Uninstall or change a program” button in the File Manager. From here, the application will start deleting all of its parts on the PC. It will not delete the drivers it has installed in the PC, though, which ensures that it will still be functional. We did a full review of Driver Genius, and installed then removed it. There was nothing at all that made it hard to uninstall and overall was quick to get off of the system.

Driver Genius features and how it helps your system

How does it benefit the computer?

The drivers of the computer ensure communication between the operating system and the hardware. Without it, parts such as the video card and the audio card will not be usable. However, manufacturers always update these parts to ensure that they will be compatible with most applications downloaded by the user.

Driver Genius can scan for all the drivers that are used by the computer and then look for its most recent version. With just a couple of clicks from the user, the application can then download and install the new drivers.

The primary feature of Driver Genius is its driver updater which can be done with just a couple of clicks from the user. Aside from this, the application also has a backup and restore tool. The backup tool creates a copy of the drivers of the PC and stores it in a folder of the user’s choice. After this, the restore tool can be used by the user to reinstall the backup copies made. This is important in case a driver update fails to install properly or if the current driver is experiencing issues.

Aside from this, Driver Genius also has a system optimization tool. This fixes the settings of the computer and configures it in order to bring out its best performance. This is only available for the users of its Platinum version, though.

Different Driver Genius versions

Driver Genius has a free trial version that can be used for a limited time. Once users have used its features, they are recommended to purchase the Professional version which gives unlimited access to its features. They also have a Platinum version which comes with a system optimizer that can help improve the speed of the computer.
