PROS:
CONS:
There aren’t really too many bad things to be said about DigiCert. It is a trust-worthy CA and this fact can be backed up by their impressive client base. DigiCert works with huge brands such as Facebook, PayPal, BMW, Yahoo, Toyota and many more. DigiCert provides OV and EV SSL certificates that are easy to install and come packed with lots of sought-for features. There are also special offers and some attractive freebies.
DigiCert is a certificate authority (CA) based in the US. The company was founded in 2003 and it provides Organization Validation (OV) and Extended Validation (EV) certificates. It doesn’t sell Domain Validated (DV) SSL certificates.
DigiCert claims on its official website that it secures over 8 billion web connections every day. It has some top brands on its client base, like: PayPal, IBM, GitHub, BMW, Yahoo, Toyota, HP, Facebook and others. It is also one of the biggest providers of SSL certificates for the healthcare sector.
The company is a member of the Better Business Bureau and a Web-Trust-Certified CA.
DigiCert also has a Spanish version of the website.
As we already mentioned, DigiCert doesn’t issue DV SSL certificates.
As for its OV, EV and Wildcard certificates, they include features like award-winning customer support, compatibility with all major browsers and mobile devices, unlimited server licensing, the DigiCert Site Seal, 256-bit encryption. They support 2048-bit public key encryption (3072-bit and 4096-bit). With EV certificates you also get the green address bar.
Certificates can be bought for 1, 2 or 3 years. The warranty is $1,000,000. We liked the fact that SSL certificates are very easy to install. You can either do the installation via the e-mail you receive from them or you can download them from your online account.
DigiCert has some special offers to attract new customers. Clients who switch to DigiCert from another service benefit from 60 additional days to the life of the certificate they purchase. The company also has a 30-days money back guarantee.
Customers who opt for a 2 or 3 years subscription also benefit from discounts. There also free reissues and duplicate certificates.
However, DigiCert doesn’t offer any free trials, which is a drawback compared to its major competitors.
Standard SSL – from $139/year
EV SSL – from $234/year
Multi-Domain SSL – from $239/year

DigiCert takes pride in its award-winning customer support. This company can be reached via phone, live chat or e-mail. Support is also available in Spanish.
Customer support is available on a 24 hour basis from Monday to Thursday, from 12 am to 7 pm on Friday and Saturday, from 7 am to 3 pm.
In addition to direct support, DigiCert offers a very extensive Resources base. There is a blog, a FAQ section, a basic ‘new SSL certificate walkthrough’ that explains all the steps you have to take, myriad of helpful articles and so on.
We had to admit that those awards are well-deserved. We tested their phone support and the rep was very warm, friendly and helpful.
