PROS:
CONS:
Protect America is a great choice for anyone looking for affordable home security monitoring. The company has its drawbacks, but it has quite a few positive things about it, too. The company includes a medical alert, smoke detectors and a carbon monoxide monitor giving you an all-around system that protects you on more than one front. It also has an app that lets you see what’s happening in the house remotely, further adding to the company’s benefits.
Protect America security system is very good, but not as comprehensive as FrontPoint. Even so, they offer a solid alternative and have good pricing as well as high-end equipment. They aren’t as prominent in the market, but they do outsource to Criticom, which is a more recognizable and well-trusted security company.
Monitoring
Like we said, Protect America offers great equipment. It offers several different ways of protecting your home with cameras, sensors, alarms and more. As an additional precautionary measure, the company offers to install smoke detectors to minimize potential fire damage to your home. Gas leaks are probably more dangerous since it’s harder to sense them, so in order to prevent possible fatal gas leaks, Protect America offers carbon monoxide detectors that monitor gas emissions. The same package also includes a panic attack sensor that dispatches medical assistance in a matter of seconds. This is very convenient for the elderly, or disabled who need immediate medical attention.
However, the system has several problems, too. The monitoring isn’t as comprehensive as it should be - like we indicated. The company does not offer outdoor cameras, nor does it offer pan-and-tilt cameras. Although stationary cameras offer a good view when positioned correctly, they can’t beat moving cameras in their area coverage. Nevertheless, they are wireless and operate on a cellular system. The company allows you to save some money by setting up your own system instead of paying additionally for installation fees. Another thing that might present a problem, or, rather, an inconvenience, is outsourcing. As Protect America outsources their internal protection to Criticom, for certain problems you might need to contact both companies. Also, Criticom has a more holistic approach to the security systems and customer satisfaction and may remodel your entire security system. This can be a good thing, but it may also be a major hindrance.
Because the system is DIY, it is very mobile. Systems that require professional installation are not easily moved from home to home, as they will require a professional to dismantle and install again, which can also pump up the cost. However, Protect America has no fees and you can pick the system up and move it elsewhere. The company offers a lifetime warranty and a three-year standard contract. In other words, you get a warranty for the duration of your subscription. This is a great step up from FrontPoint who don’t have such an extensive warranty.
Features:
Like FrontPoint, Protect America is completely transparent with their pricing. On their site, you can find prices on every single piece of equipment. They also offer several packages that include different levels of protection, and you will know exactly what they cost and what they include. The smallest package costs just under $20, while the most expensive costs just over $40 per month. Throw in a lifetime warranty, and you have yourself an awesome deal.
Although it comes with a few less security products than FrontPlan, Protect America is an excellent home security monitoring system at a competitive price. It offers several advanced features and it has great customer support. The lifetime warranty makes sure you never have to worry about home security monitoring again.
