PROS:
CONS:
The Ikea Vimle is a comfortable, good looking and budget-friendly sofa. It comes in several sizes and colors, it is comfortable and comes with a 10-year guarantee. On the downside, it is a bit difficult to assemble.
Ikea is an internationally renowned brand when it comes to furniture. The Swedish multinational may be somewhat controversial and has its fans and critics, but it is nevertheless a popular brand, thanks to its diversity, convenience and affordability.
The Vimle sofa is a competitive product, because it is a real great value for the money and it comes in various sizes and colors.
You can find in several versions: 2 seat, 3 seat, 2 seat + Chaise Lounge and you can also purchase the Vimle footstool separately. Both the Chaise Lounge and the footstool have storage, which is a great quality.
Design
We reviewed the 3 seater version, which you can get for $649 on the Ikea website. There are several colors you can choose from: dark gray, beige, dark green, dark brown, black blue, yellow.
The main specs for the 3-seat sofa are:
The design of the Vimle sofa is quite versatile and it will go with any décor. Ikea also offers modules separately (1 seater, 2 seater, footstool) so you can opt for the best option for your needs.
The sofa doesn’t come assembled, but in several small boxes, which can fit through every door and are easy to move around the house. While this is clearly an advantage, it does come with a drawback, too. The Vimle sofa is quite a pain to assemble, and it is quite a puzzle game to decipher all the instructions and their order. So expect to get a bit frustrated when putting the Vimle together as it is time consuming and exhausting.
Comfort and durability
While it might not seem comfortable when you first look at it, the Vimle sofa is in fact a joy to sit on. It is comfy even for taller people (6 feet) and you can nap on it, too. The cushions are just firm enough and deep enough to be comfortable, but solid to not sink and wear out over time. There are no toss pillows included.
The frame is solid enough to not shift when you sit on the sofa and the fabric is smooth. It is also removable and washable, which is great especially if you have pets or/and kids. You can also replace the cover if you want to.
The armrests are the only ones to lose some points when it comes to comfort, as they are a bit too thin to comfortably rest on them.
The Vimle sofa comes with a 10-year guarantee and it feels quite solid, in spite of being a modular sofa.
Another aspect to consider, especially if you are concerned with being environmentally responsible, is the fact that Ikea uses a lot of materials from recycled sources and tries to minimize the harmful chemicals they use in their products/furniture.
And the best part is the price of the Vimle, which is really reasonable, making this an overall competitive and desirable product.
On the official Ikea website, the 3-seat Vimle is priced at $650.
