PROS:
CONS:
VideoPad 5.1 is a video editing software that will cover most of your basic video editing needs. Although it has several advanced features, it’s missing some others that would make it a more competitive product.
VideoPad 5.01 is a good video editing software that comes with all the standard tools and features, although it is missing some more advanced tools other similar software had. It has a very small learning curve so your entire family will be able to use it without much trouble.
Features
This video creator has a standard workflow that includes a timeline and a storyboard that allow different levels of editing. With the timeline, you can view your video clips linearly depending on their length, while the storyboard lets you add objects individually regardless of their run time. Since the timeline has a more advanced set of features, VideoPad allows you to smoothly transition between these two modes so you can create simpler projects in the storyboard and then export it to the timeline for fine-tuning.
VideoPad is among the few video editing software that lets you add as many editing tracks as you need. Most apps we reviewed are limited to a certain number of lines. With this software, you also have access to the more advanced Chroma key feature, a video stabilizer and an option of close captioning your videos. These are all features we also found with more expensive, professional software. VideoPad also allows you to import and edit ultra-high-resolution 4K videos that are getting more and more common. The app comes with a motion tracker that helps greatly if you want to apply an effect specifically to one object instead of having to do it frame-by-frame.
The app also has a decent array of audio editing tools. VideoPad lets you do basic audio edits by adjusting volume or adding certain sound effects like echo, distortion or reverb. Although it does cover all the basic and more when it comes to elementary audio features, VideoPad falls behind the top ranked software in our review since it doesn’t have a surround sound optimizer or a more serious audio-mixer.
Like we mentioned earlier, VideoPad has a very small learning curve and it should be fairly easy for any user to get the grasps of the program in a minimal amount of time. Unfortunately, this app doesn’t offer any kind of interactive learning experience where you can create simple projects while being fully guided on the basic features and tools at your disposal. These kinds of features are extremely useful for less tech-savvy users since it teaches them how to use the software in an inclusive way. VideoPad also lacks a wizard-type feature that would allow you to create a project using preprogramed effects and templates. Even though these omissions aren’t major, beginner users might look at other products that offer them more learning opportunities instead of opting for the VideoPad 5.1.

VideoPad is a very simply designed consumer-level video editor. It supports 4K video and it has most standard features any casual user could need. Although it’s missing some more advanced features, it’s still a good app for less proficient users.
