PROS:
CONS:
The HoMedics Shiatsu Air Pro is the most expensive foot massager released by HoMedics. It is a customizable electric foot massager with air compression, deep kneading shiatsu nodes and heating option. Its only big issue is the fact that it cannot comfortably accommodate larger foot sizes.
HoMedics is an American company based in Michigan. It was founded in 1987 and it specializes in home massage products. In addition to those, they also sell fitness monitors, humidifiers, air filters and more.
The Shiatsu Hot Air Pro is their most expensive foot massager, along with their Shiatsuflex, which has the same price. The Air Pro is an electric foot massager with heat.
The Shiatsu Air Pro comes in gray and looks like a helmet with holes, in which you insert your feet. It is roomy enough inside, although it wouldn’t have hurt to have bigger holes, because people with larger feet (size 12 for instance) might not be able to use it effectively, because their heels wouldn’t completely benefit from the massage.
The Air Pro is very ergonomic and simple: it only has 5 customizable controls on top: power, air intensity, mode, knead intensity and heat. The air and knead intensity both have three settings: low, medium and high. The adjustable air intensity and knead intensity are very useful, because your needs may vary and this way you have several combinations to choose from. The entire machine has highly customizable settings. The Mode option allows you to choose between only knead, only air or both.
As its name suggests it, the Shiatsu Air Pro uses the Shiatsu technique, an old Japanese massage technique which focuses on key pressure points and uses repetitive motions of variable intensity. The deep-kneading nodes in the Air Pro succeed to mimic the technique impressively well.
But what we liked best about this foot massager was its soothing Heat function. Heat will always be a plus to any massage, because it relaxes the muscles, it stimulates your blood flow and really gets into your arches and soles. And just like with all the other options, you also have the heat turned off when you don’t feel the need for it.
The massager automatically turns off after 15 minutes, but if you don’t feel you’ve got enough pampering for your feet, you can always have another massage session.
As for the cons, aside from the fact that the Air Pro is not tailored for everyone, size wise, the air compression can be a bit strong on your toes, even painful, especially on the high setting. Some prefer it that way though, so it is also a matter of taste.
Overall, the HoMedics Air Pro is a versatile and customizable foot massager, but it does have a few frustrating shortcomings which aren’t easy to overlook. Flaws aside, the massager does a good job, it is easy to use, relatively small and light and easy to move.
The HoMedics Shiatsu Air Pro can be purchased for $149.99. You can order it from the official website, Amazon, etc. The massager comes with a two-year limited warranty.
