PROS:
CONS:
Avast Internet Security suite comes with an incredible number of features designed to raise your PCs protection to a whole new level. It got great results on the AV-Test evaluation for usability and protection, although it did cause significant lag to its host PC. With features like the exclusive Cyber Capture and home network security, Avast Internet Security is a great software package at a reasonable price.
In its Internet Security suite, Avast combined its excellent antivirus software with many intuitive new features to make a package of products that will provide full and effective protection across your devices. The Avast Internet Security suite protects against spyware and theft of data you enter online. It also comes with an advanced firewall protection and an anti-spam feature.
Features
Avast has been a household name when it comes to antivirus protection for the past 24 years. It owes its impeccable reputation to high quality, reliable software Avast developers have been coming out with every year. Avast Internet Security suite hold up to that name. The antivirus program (can be bought outside the suite) has been fully re-imagined and it’s now more intelligent and intuitive than any of its predecessors. Now it also includes protection against newly emerged threats such as ransomware and different types of spyware. It also has an integrated feature that stops phishing attempts.
With its newest update, Avast introduced a new feature called CyberCapture. It allows real-time detection and it automatically sends any suspicious files to Avast Threat Labs for further examination. If the file proves to be malicious, information about it is logged and added to the overall virus database so that further attacks may be stopped early on. If you’ve downloaded a file from a website with a shady reputation, you can test its viability in the safe environment of the Sandbox before moving it across your PC.
Another great option Avast offers is a Home Network Security feature that lets you check for vulnerabilities in the settings of your home network. If it finds any week spots, the software alerts you to take appropriate action. For a periodical quick scan, there is the Smart Scan option that gives you an overview of your PCs overall health. If you’ve noticed your web browser has been slower lately, this might be due to unauthorized software that was installed on it. Different kinds of extensions or toolbars are usually hidden in the installation files of most software you download from the internet. To remove these nuisances all at once, rather than doing it one by one, Avast Internet Security suite includes a Browser Cleanup feature to help with unwanted browser additions. To add to this amazing parade of features, Avast also included Avast Password - a “password manager” type feature that protects your passwords from ending up in the wrong hands.
Avast Internet Security suite has a bundle of features specifically aimed at making your online transactions more secure. The Secure DNS feature makes sure you’re not entering your sensitive personal information on fake sites, but rather alerts you of any possibility of a fraud. The anti-spam feature stops spam mail that solicits you for money under false pretenses and other different kinds of phishing emails. This feature is also available as a free download on Avast’s website. To take your online security to a whole new level, Avast has come up with its own internet browser the - SafeZone Browser. With many integrated security features, its creators claim it’s the world’s safest browser.

No one can dispute that the Avast Internet Security suite offers one of the fullest, most complete security software packages on the market. With this in mind, when it came to testing the software for protection, performance and usability we were a bit frightened that Avast might not live up to its name. Thankfully, the independent tests that were performed by the AV-Test lab proved our doubts unfounded. During their tests in early 2016, the AV-Test facility included Avast in the top 22 internet security software suits of the year.
Avast was tested for usability by being set up against the colossal 1.2 million samples of software and it only made a single misidentification by blocking a non-threatening site. Avast beat the industry standard by making less than three mistakes. When it came to the performance area of the test, Avast didn’t do quite well. The testers ran multiple programs and performed different actions on the test computer while Avast was running its scan. The test was designed to measure the amount of lag the security software imposes on the computer it was tested on. Unfortunately, Avast failed to meet the industry average by significantly slowing down its host PC. Despite the poor performance results, Avast received a perfect score in protection. It successfully managed to detect and stop all threats it was set upon, even those not yet in the virus database.
