PROS:
CONS:
The Cuisinart Hurricane CBT-1500 is a sturdy and powerful blender. It is simpler than other popular blenders on the market, in terms of features and speed settings, but it is a great kitchen appliance, packed with a motor that can handle any challenge, from veggie soups or smoothies, to crushing ice or grinding nuts and seeds.
Cuisinart is a worldwide renowned home appliance brand, particularly famous for its food processors and blenders. It is American and owned by Conair Corporation and it was founded in 1971.
Cuisinart commercializes various home appliances, from cookware to dinnerware, tools, outdoor grills and many other appliances.
Their Cuisinart Hurricane blender is one of their best-selling products and for good reasons. In fact, it is a popular blender model in general.
There are two Hurricane models: the CBT-1500 and the CBT-2000, with the latter being the pro version, and a more powerful one.
In this review however, we are going to focus on the CBT-1500.
Here are the main specs for the CBT-1500:
The Cuisinart Hurricane looks powerful and solid. It comes in a ‘gunmetal’ finish or in white, it has a 60-ounce BPA free Tritan jar and an illuminated, electronic touchpad. The blades are 4-prong and are stainless steel.
The blender also has an LCD with a countdown timer that can be programmed. In terms of speed settings, the Hurricane is not as complex as some top-rated competitors. There are three speeds settings to choose from: Low, High and Pulse, and that’s it. There are also dedicated buttons for Smoothie and Ice Crush. Overall, the Cuisinart Hurricane is a very easy to use appliance.
The hole in the lid allows you to add extra ingredients even while the blender is operating, without removing the lid. The jar has a nice, soft grip handle. The container is large, so that’s definitely another plus. You can prepare approx. 7-8 portions at once.
The jar and lid of the blender are dishwasher safe, so cleaning the Cuisinart Hurricane is an easy task. You can also clean the blender manually. Regardless of the method you choose, just make sure you clean the blender right after each use, to avoid build ups from accumulating.
The motor is quite powerful (1500W) and the blender comes with an overheating protection, meaning it automatically shuts down the device in case it gets too hot, to prevent any damage. In case that happens, the best thing to do is unplug the blender and leave it like that for approx. 15 minutes, before starting to use it again.
Of course, with such a powerful motor, expect some noise when you make those smoothies. The Hurricane has a noise level of more than 95 dB.
As you’ve probably guessed it from the dedicated buttons, the Cuisinart Hurricane is good at preparing smoothies and crushing your ice. But of course it can do more than that. You can use it for dough, grinding various nuts and seeds, pureeing, soups and more.
The results are always great and ingredients will be blended perfectly, with no unwanted chunks left behind.
The Hurricane has another notable feature: automatic load sensing technology, which adjusts the blender’s speed according to the ingredients you put inside.
In conclusion, the Cuisinart Hurricane is a great buy. In spite of this model being the less powerful one, compared to the Hurricane CBT-2000, this blender is a very powerful one and it can handle all your blending needs and satisfy your every craving. It may not have as many features as other blenders out there, but it is great at doing its job, easy to clean and looks great in any kitchen.
You can get the Cuisinart Hurricane CBT-1500 on Amazon for $149.99. The product comes with a limited 3-year warranty. You also get a recipe book in the box.
