PROS:
CONS:
The Deebot Ozmo 930 from Ecovacs is a combo with both vacuuming and mopping functions. The robot has a great, complex and customizable app, accurate mapping abilities and a really good battery life. On the other hand, it is not the best cleaning robot in its price range and has a small dust bin that you need to empty quite often.
The Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 930 is a complex robot vacuum, with a great battery life, mopping abilities and a great app.
It was released in 2018 and although it is not the most affordable cleaning device, considering its features, it is definitely a great choice to consider.
Here are the main specifications of the Ozmo 930:
Design
The Ozmo 930 has a common design. It is circular, has a black body and a plastic reservoir in the back, which you have to fill with water when you want to use the robot for mopping.
The Ozmo 930 is quite on the large and on the tall side, so it may have trouble to get under all types of furniture. The dust bin on the other hand is not that big, it only has a capacity of 0.47 liters, which means you pretty much have to empty it after every cleaning cycle, or once every 2 cycles. Also, don’t expect to get any reminder when the bin is full, because there aren’t any.
The robot has only one button on top, the Auto button, which starts/stops the device. There is also a LED indicator which changes its light intensity depending on whether the robot is charging or it’s in use.
Features and performance
The Ozmo 930 is a great combo, because it is both a vacuum and a mop. It has a smart and easy to use app, which is highly customizable.
You can download the app both from the Apple Store and Google Play and follow the steps. You have to connect to a WiFi network and pair the Ozmo 930 with your device. But, before you do that, make sure the vacuum is fully charged. If the battery is completely empty, you have to wait around 4 hours for it to fully charge. Then you are good to go.
The vacuum can be programmed to do its first cleaning from both the Auto button on top or from the app. A voice will let you know that the robot is starting to clean and it will perform its first cleaning cycle, for the purpose of mapping your house. The mapping feature is impressively accurate, so kudos for that, Ozmo boy!
The Ozmo 930 is quite chatty and will constantly give you vocal status updates, when it changes rooms, when the cleaning cycle is paused and so on.
From the app you can do several things: you can see exactly how much of the area has been cleaned, how long it took, you can change the cleaning modes (you can choose between Auto, Area, Custom). You can also create virtual barriers if you don’t want the robot to go into certain areas or you can choose sections for the robot to clean twice, if you know they are dirtier. You can also set the amount of water the robot pumps when you are using it as a mop, you can schedule cleanings and see the Ozmo’s cleaning log and put the robot into the Do Not Disturb mode, to prevent it from starting a cleaning cycle.
The mopping feature of the robot is decent, but not outstanding. The Ozmo 930 knows you want to use the mop function when you fill the tank with water. You need to attach the mopping plate and the cloth, the robot will first vacuum and then proceed to mop the area. When the wet function is activated, the robot knows to avoid carpets and stick to hard floors.
When it comes to its cleaning abilities, the Ozmo 930 is average. It can pick up the obvious and easier pieces of debris, but it can’t cope with more serious dirt and it’s not always effective with pet hair either, especially when it’s on rugs. Also, its sensors make it quite shy and eager to avoid any kind of obstacle what so ever, so there will be corners or areas which might not get cleaned properly. And the fact that it is quite tall and doesn’t fit under certain furniture, doesn’t help either. The Ozmo 930 also has some trouble with high thresholds and can’t really climb those that are taller than 10mm.
The battery life of the Ozmo 930 is really good, the robot can go for approximately 110 minutes on a single charge. You do have to wait for 4 hours for the robot to fully charge again, but that’s not such a big problem.
The Ozmo 930 has its pros and cons. It is really good as a robot and its app is praiseworthy. On the downside, its vacuum abilities do leave room for improvement.
You can purchase the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 930 for $590.
