The Elchim 3900 Healthy Ionic is an Italian made hair dryer that packs 2000W of power. It has an ergonomic design, it dries your hair quickly and uses both the ceramic and ionic technology. It reduces frizz and keeps your hair hydrated. It is a good and powerful dryer, but it has a pretty steep price.
The Elchim 3900 Healthy Ionic is manufactured by Elchim, an Italian company founded in 1945 in Milano. The company manufactures hair care tools such as hair dryers, stylers and brushes.
The 3900 Healthy Ionic is a very powerful dryer with a power of 2000W and ionic + ceramic technology. It comes in a wide variety of colors: titanium, black, silver, yellow, pink and more.

The 3900 Healthy Ionic has an ergonomic design. While it may look a bit bulky at first, it has a very good grip, it is light enough and well balanced. It is very comfortable to hold in your hand for extended periods of time without tiring your arm. And if this dryer is not light enough for you, Elchim has another model which is almost similar, but weighs even less: the Light Ceramic Ionic.
Back to our 3900 model, it comes with a 9 feet long cord and 2 included nozzles with quick lock system. There is also a 2 in 1 Cocoon diffuser available for this model, but it’s not included in the box, you have to buy it separately, which is a shame.
The Elchim 3900 is a very powerful dryer (2000W) but in spite of that, it is impressively quiet, thanks to its built-in silencer. It uses both ionic and ceramic technology which eliminates static electricity and keeps your hair hydrated and glossy, while drying it up to 30% faster than other blow dryers. It reduces frizz and it also benefits from the electromagnetic wave protection system (low EMF), which is good news for your health. Another plus is the far infrared heat which is gentle on the hair and is useful for those with thin, fragile hair.
The 3900 Healthy Ionic is really efficient regardless of your type of hair, but those with thick hair will also be satisfied by the results of the Elchim 3900, especially in terms of speed.
The almost 9 feet long cord is more than enough and you get 2 concentrators. The only thing that’s missing is the two-in-one Cocoon diffuser, which has to be bought separately.
While we had no time to use and abuse the dryer too much and we just tested it for performance, there are quite a few frustrated customers complaining on the Internet about this dryer’s longevity (or lack of it). Apparently, the Elchim 3900 doesn’t have the longest life span. While we had no time to confirm or disprove their complaints, it might be helpful to know about their existence. On the other hand, it is encouraging to know that Elchim offers a lifetime guarantee for this product, which has to say something about the quality of the dryer.
The Elchim 3900 Healthy Ionic is a fast, ergonomic and powerful dryer. It is not as pricey as the fanciest high-end blow dryers on the market, such as the Dyson or Bio Ionic 10x, but it is not far behind. At almost $200, we consider it on the expensive side and we assume others will, too.
