PROS:
CONS:
The Danby Designer DMW077BLSDD is an extremely affordable countertop microwave, small, lightweight and simple. It is not a powerful microwave, nor does it have a large capacity, which makes it perfect for dorms or small apartments. It doesn’t cook as fast as major competitors, but when used within its capabilities, it does a great job. In spite of its really small price, it offers more options than regular budget microwaves.
Danby Products Ltd. is a Canadian company founded in Montreal, Canada, in 1947, but has locations in China and US. It currently has affiliates all over the US, China and Mexico, affiliates that manufacture household appliances and for which Danby operates as a distributor.
The Danby DMW077BLSDD is a very budget-friendly and popular countertop microwave. It is available in stainless steel and black finish, it is simple, efficient and extremely affordable.
Main specifications:
The Danby Designer microwave has a modern but simple, ergonomic design. The stainless steel finish offers a stylish look and it is a bit smaller and lighter than other counterparts, which makes it easy to fit almost anywhere or to move around and place wherever you see fit. It makes a wise choice for dorms or small apartments. The door has a handle and a semi-transparent window. The microwave has touch controls and a bright LED display that also works as a clock or timer, depending on your preference.
As we’ve already mentioned it, the DMW077BLSDD is not a large microwave, so if you have a large family or you’re planning to cook big meals on your microwave, this may not be the most perfect choice, as the Danby Designer has a capacity of only 0.7 cu. ft.
The power of this microwave is also not impressive, it only has 700 watts. That shouldn’t be a deal breaker, it just means that it takes a bit more time to cook your meals, than with a more powerful microwave, for instance, in the range of 900, 1000W. That doesn’t mean that the Danby microwave can’t perform properly. It does a great job, just as long as you use it for simple tasks, such as reheating, defrosting foods or preparing easy meals.
This is such a straightforward microwave that it is perfect for the elderly too, because there are no fancy, smart, complicated features they have to learn how to use, the display is clear and bright and everything is easy to read.
It has simple options, two defrost functions, based on weight and time and 6 preset options: popcorn, potato, pizza, beverage, dinner plate and frozen vegetable. However, the presets are not as useful as with other more powerful microwaves, because more often than not, you have to add a bit more time in order for your meal to cook properly. It also may become irritating to have to constantly check if your food is ready. In addition to the 6 presets, you can also make your own settings and store them in its memory system.
The Danby Designer is not a complex unit with sensors, grill, inverter technology and other high-end features, but it doesn’t cost as much as those, either! On the contrary, it is an insanely affordable microwave and for this price it actually includes more features than regular on the budget options (for instance the ‘defrost by weight or time’ features). It is a small, lightweight and extremely easy to operate appliance, it looks good and it is a great option for small spaces/kitchens.
You can purchase the Danby Designer DMW077BLSDD microwave on Amazon for $85. The microwave comes with 18 months parts and labor warranty.
