PROS:
CONS:
The Panasonic NN-SN651B is a mid-priced countertop microwave with a capacity of 1.2 cu. ft. One of its biggest strengths is the inverter technology it uses. It also has a Keep Warm feature, Sensor Reheat and Cooking and it is lightweight.
The Panasonic NN-SN651B is among the most popular Panasonic microwaves on the market, thanks to its great features and capabilities. The microwave uses their patented inverter technology, to obtain the best cooking results and also reduce the cooking time.
Here are the main specifications for the NN-SN651B:
Design
The NN-SN651B comes in 2 colors: black and white. It is a light microwave and the design is pretty classic. You don’t have a door handle, you have to push a button in order to open the door.
The control panel is on the right side and there is a LED display on top of it, which can act both as a clock or a timer.
You’ve got your typical Panasonic arrangement: 3 touch buttons for Popcorn, Sensor Reheat, Sensor Cook (1-12), Power level, Inverter Turbo Defrost and a Keep Warm button. Below those there is another keypad with numbers from 0 to 9, a Quick Minute and the Timer/Clock button. The last row of touch controls contains the Stop/Reset button and the Start one.
The LED display of the NN-SN651B is not the best we’ve seen, it is not bright enough or as easy to read as on other microwaves, but most of the times, you should manage to do your job.
Features
The biggest strength of the NN-SN651B is by far the inverter technology it uses. For those of you who don’t know what is so special about it, it’s great for cooking your food faster and more accurately. You’ll no longer be forced to put up with dishes that are unevenly cooked. It also helps you cook your food faster than with standard microwaves. The inverter technology works flawlessly even when you use the microwave on lower settings. This microwave type of cooking doesn’t use the same power on everything and adapts to your cooking needs.
Despite its weight, the NN-SN651B is quite powerful and has a cooking power of 1200W.
Among the noteworthy features of the NN-SN651B we can mention the Sensor cook and Sensor reheat, which translate into the microwave measuring how much steam the food you put inside produces and knows when the food is ready and when to stop cooking it. The microwave also knows how to obtain perfect results at any power level you use. And if we’re on the subject of power levels, this microwave has 10.
Another useful feature is the Keep Warm function, which is a joy to use and very useful.
The NN-SN651B has 12 preset auto cook menu items, a quick minute timer that lets you cook your food in intervals of 1 minute or add another minute to your cooking program, if necessary.
Other functions you might appreciate on it are the Child Lock, Delay Start and the Turbo Defrost feature. The latter works impressively well, being able to defrost your food really fast.
One annoying thing about the NN-SN651B is that it is really noisy, which shouldn’t necessarily be a deal breaker but may bother some people.
The NN-SN651B is a really competitive mid-priced microwave. It is powerful, yet it doesn’t weigh much, it uses the inverter technology and it has several presets and useful features.
On Amazon the NN-SN651B goes for approximately $142.
